Broke & Bougie
Seventy-six acres of rare Garry oak meadow in Oak Bay, with unsigned paths, April camas and flat rocks at the water.
More infoUplands Park is one of the last real Garry oak meadows anywhere, and Oak Bay has had the sense to leave it undeveloped. Informal paths thread between twisting oaks and rock outcrops that go blue with camas through April and May, and the park runs straight down to the water at Cattle Point, where the rocks are flat enough to sit on and the sky is dark enough that it is a designated urban star park. It is free, it never gets the crowd Willows Beach gets a few hundred metres south, and it takes exactly as long as you let it.
