Broke & Bougie
Canada's oldest Chinatown, a freshly restored 12-metre dragon gate glowing at dusk, and stone lions from Suzhou. Worth every cent of zero.
More infoThe Gate of Harmonious Interest rises 12 metres over the top of Fisgard Street, freshly restored in March 2026 with lighting that turns it, at dusk, into a genuinely electric object. Canada's oldest Chinatown wraps around it in two short, lantern-strung blocks. Pat the stone lions donated by sister city Suzhou for luck, then drift toward Fan Tan Alley. Best after dark. The gate and the glow are free.
