Chilli paneer, gobi Manchurian and Hakka noodles in Richmond's warm Indo-Chinese room, plus handcrafted pizza if you need it.
Star6 in Richmond is built around one of the world's great accidental cuisines: Indo-Chinese, which happened when Hakka cooks landed in India and decided Chinese technique plus Indian heat was a perfectly reasonable experiment, and they were spectacularly right. Order the chilli paneer, the gobi Manchurian, the chilli chicken, the Hakka noodles, and watch a haze of garlic, ginger and green chili arrive in your general direction. Everything is shareable and slightly messy and priced to let you order too much, which is the move. A 4.5 across 500-plus reviews means the regulars know this. The menu also has a full Indian section and handcrafted pizza, which arrives there as if by accident and is somehow completely at home. Come hungry, order the things that sound most chaotic, and enjoy the part where you keep interrupting each other to say 'you have to try this one.'
