Locals swear this is Victoria's best sunset, then beg you to keep it quiet. Gonzales Hill is the highest point on Vancouver Island's south coast, crowned by a 1914 heritage observatory with no business being this romantic. From the rocky knoll beside it, a single pivot of the head sweeps the Salish Sea, Olympic Mountains and Mount Baker. Parking is tight, so arrive early.
