While most of Victoria queues for Butchart, the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific just gets on with being lovely. Nine acres of themed gardens unfold across a Saanich conservation site: the serene Takata Japanese garden with its bridge and pond, a rose garden, and Canada's largest outdoor bonsai collection, all linked by quiet forest paths. Admission runs a few dollars, so wander twice and still afford the on-site cafe.
