The Ed Nixon Trail wraps Langford Lake in an easy, mostly flat loop that any pair can walk without training for it. The highlight is the floating boardwalk that carries you out over the water, past a fishing platform, small beaches, and enough benches to stop and take it in. It is forest and lake and sky the whole way, about two and a half kilometres if you keep it short, and the trailhead sits straight down Goldstream Avenue from downtown Langford. That closeness is the trick: it turns a night of bowling into a night that also had a proper walk by the water.
