Walk the suspension footbridge, crouch over the tide pools below, then book the window seat at the restaurant and watch the light drown in the water. In winter, storm swells arrive on cue.
From Victoria, take Hwy 14 (Sooke Road) west, about 40 to 60 minutes to Sooke, then another ~25 km on West Coast Road to Point No Point at Shirley, roughly 75 to 90 minutes door to door. Stop in Sooke on the way for supplies and, in summer, detour to the Sooke Potholes Provincial Park for a swim in the emerald river pools (Lot 3 has the best ones, a short walk in). Check into your oceanfront cabin, fire up the private hot tub, and walk the headland trails to the suspension bridge and the tide-pool beach below for sunset over the Olympic Mountains. Book a window table at the resort restaurant, or detour back toward Sooke for dinner. Other don't-miss stops on the way out or back: Sheringham Point Lighthouse (a short free walk to a red-and-white National Historic site), French Beach Provincial Park for whale-spotting and an easy forest-to-shore stroll, and the rugged Coast Trail in East Sooke Regional Park if you want a real hike. A quick walk on Whiffin Spit in Sooke makes a nice add-on. Best photo spots: the suspension bridge, the cabin deck at golden hour, and the lighthouse cliffs. Couples: it's the hot tub, the fire, and a slow restaurant dinner, that's the whole pitch. Solo: a cabin to yourself plus a Coast Trail hike is a deep reset. Short on time? Skip the overnight and do it as a day loop, Sooke Potholes swim, Sheringham Lighthouse, French Beach, and a Sooke dinner, but the cabin is the reason this exists.
