Persian Feast at Pasargad

Coquitlam's Persian date-night flagship, where the charcoal koobideh is tender, the saffron rice glows, and the tahdig vanishes in seconds.

Coquitlam has a deep Persian community and Pasargad is its date-night flagship, which means this is a place that takes the business of a good meal seriously. Tender charcoal koobideh, jewel-bright saffron rice, and crispy tahdig that everyone at the table will fight over with a commitment that reveals quite a lot about true character. The room is calm and proper rather than loud, which turns out to be an underrated quality when you are trying to actually hear the other person talk. Order a couple of kababs, share them, and finish with cardamom tea while you both pretend the tahdig battle never happened. It leans a touch pricey but the portions and the saffron are not bluffing, and the bill earns it. A reliable choice when you want the food to do some of the conversational heavy lifting.
