Foodie Experiences
Surrey's Caribbean lounge where jerk, oxtail and a sorrel drink become your Friday night, especially if there's a DJ.
Di Reggae Cafe is the kind of place that proves you've been sleeping on Surrey. The King George storefront is unassuming in the extreme, and the dining room behind it is a little Caribbean world built by someone who understood that atmosphere is half the meal: grass fronds over the bar, Caribbean posters on the walls, reggae and R&B on the speakers, and DJs or live music carrying you into the weekend. The food holds up its end with a solid 4.2: oxtail that's spent the afternoon getting serious, brown stew chicken, jerk, and a curry goat that has its own fan club. The real trick as a date is ordering a sorrel, letting the music get loud enough that you have to lean in to hear each other, and staying long past when you meant to.
