It is a counter, a case and a queue: jam-filled and honey-glazed donuts, the golden Oreo lemon one when it turns up, shortbread cut thick in the proper Scottish style, florentines, and savoury pies at prices that have not caught up with the rest of the city. The owners are the sort who remember an order. Take a paper bag and walk it somewhere better, which around here is easy, because Saxe Point, the West Bay Walkway and the Archie Browning rink are all minutes away.
It is a counter, not a cafe, so plan on ordering and walking. Ask what came out last, take the jam donut regardless, and add a wedge of the thick Scottish shortbread. Open 10 to 4 Tuesday through Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday, so it only ever works as a daylight stop. Free parking in the plaza lot, the West Bay Walkway is a five-minute drive, and Saxe Point is barely further.
