More infoArtisan Bistro is the Broadmead surprise: a small French leaning room of about twelve tables tucked into a shopping village, run with far more care than the address would lead you to expect. Breakfast runs 9 to 2 and it is bistro cooking rather than diner cooking, so there is duck in the hash, the bennies are properly made and the coffee is roasted by Fernwood. There is a real wine list as well, which is a strange and welcome thing to find at 10am on a Tuesday.
Breakfast is walk in only and runs 9am to 2pm, so there is nothing to book, though the room is small enough that a weekend queue is real. Order the duck hash or a benny, get the Fernwood coffee, and look at the wine list even at this hour because it is genuinely good. Budget about 75 minutes. Broadmead Village has a decent bookshop next door, and the Lochside Trail is five minutes away if you want to walk it off.
