Tabletop Grill and Seafood Pancake at Kang's Kitchen

Kang's Kitchen upgraded every table with a grill and overhead exhaust so cooking dinner together is now part of the date.

Kang's Kitchen recently added grills to every table, with proper overhead exhaust, which means cooking dinner together is now the date. This is Burquitlam's Koreatown strip on North Road: marinated meats sizzling right in front of you, side by side, while the rest of the table fills in around you. The homestyle dishes Kang's built its name on show up as supporting cast: a thick, crackly seafood pancake that arrives like it owns the room, handmade noodles, generous bossam pork wraps, and enough banchan to cover whatever table space is left. You will over-order. This is, as far as anyone can tell, the point. At a 4.3 with easy parking, it's the kind of lively, hands-on evening where awkward silences have nowhere to go. And you're steps from the rest of the North Road strip if the night isn't ready to end.
