The Coquitlam Crunch is exactly what it sounds like: a tough 2.2 km climb up a BC Hydro right-of-way, over 890 stairs and 242 metres of gain, and completely free. The house rule is that whoever stops talking first is losing, which is either flirtation or a fitness test. Up top you earn a view over Burnaby Mountain and, on a clear day, Mount Baker across the border.
