The Victoria Conference Centre fills with tasting tables for the Victoria International Wine Festival, a five day run in November where producers and agents pour hundreds of wines from around the world in a relaxed walk-around format. A standard tasting session runs two and a half hours, so the pace is unhurried: work a table together, compare notes, and ask the person pouring about the bottle before you decide whether it is worth the splurge. It is indoors and downtown, an easy pairing with dinner nearby either before or after your session.
