Seaside walks and sunset spots in Victoria
Walk the Ogden Point Breakwater at Dusk. Photo: Florian Fuchs, CC BY-SA 3.0
Free shoreline walks from Ogden Point to Cadboro Bay, with what each one is like and when to skip it.
Most of Victoria's best evening walks are free and face the water. The Dallas Road shoreline, Beacon Hill Park and Clover Point look across the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Ogden Point's breakwater runs 762 metres out to sea, and Saxe Point in Esquimalt and Cadboro-Gyro Park in Saanich both list Olympic Mountain views on their official park pages.
Check the sunset time before you go and bring a layer. The City has closed some shoreline paths, including Gonzales beach access, during wind warnings, so on a storm day look for a notice first. Island View, on the Peninsula's east shore, suits an afternoon better than an evening.
