Zumi Revolving Sushi Opens Oct. 25 on Alberni Street
The hardest part of a sushi date is usually agreeing on what to order. Zumi Revolving Sushi Bar, a pay-by-plate conveyor belt spot at 1588 Alberni Street in the Alberni by Kengo Kuma tower, opens Sunday, October 25, 2026, Daily Hive reported on October 21.
How the belt and the counter work
So how does it work? Seasonal plates ride a belt past your seat, you take whatever looks good, and you pay by the plate. Zumi's own site lists hamachi at $4, salmon and tai at $5, chutoro and maguro at $6, and uni at $8.
Want something the belt isn't carrying? There are 12 cedar seats at the counter in front of the chefs, where you can ask for it. There's also Zumi To Go, with nigiri boxes and hand rolls for taking away. Daily Hive notes that it arrives after another Vancouver sushi train, Sushi Aboard, closed on September 7.
Hours, and one thing to check before you go
The restaurant's site lists lunch daily from 11:30am to 2:30pm and dinner daily from 5pm to 10pm. One honest caveat: when we checked on October 21, Zumi's own homepage still said it was opening in winter 2026, so the October 25 date comes from Daily Hive's report. We'd check the restaurant's Instagram, @zumisushi_ca, before heading over on opening day. We didn't find reservation details or a phone number on the site.
Is Zumi a good date spot?
A conveyor belt is a surprisingly good fit for an early date, because the food keeps the conversation going and nobody has to commit to a big order. Six plates each at the prices Zumi lists works out to about $24 to $48 per person before drinks, tax and tip. If it were us, we'd split an uni plate, ask the chefs about something the belt doesn't carry, and walk down to the Coal Harbour seawall afterwards.
