Gregory Gourdet Cooks One Night at Touk on Nov. 9

Most of us save the big dinner for a big occasion, and then somehow never find the occasion. Here's one with a date already on it: Gregory Gourdet, the three-time James Beard Award winner behind Portland's Kann, cooks with Chanthy Yen at Touk, 1152 Alberni Street, for one night only on Monday, November 9, 2026.

Who's cooking and what's on the menu

Gourdet founded Kann, a contemporary Haitian restaurant that won Best New Restaurant at the 2023 James Beard Awards and placed 27th on North America's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2025. Yen won Top Chef Canada season 11 and is the chef-owner of Touk, a contemporary Cambodian restaurant.

Together they're cooking a five-course menu that draws on Haitian and Cambodian influences and on seafood and produce from B.C. and Oregon. The individual dishes haven't been published. Daily Hive reports the pairings include low and no alcohol cocktails from Kann and wines from Martin's Lane Winery.

Tickets, seatings and the fine print

Tickets are $199 per person, Daily Hive reports, and the Eventbrite listing shows $218.26. Eventbrite says the ticket covers all five courses, the B.C. wine pairings and gratuity. There are two seatings, 5:30pm and 8pm, with the same menu at both.

Two things to know before you book. Seating is communal and family style, so you'll be sharing a table with other guests. And Eventbrite lists the dinner as 19 plus, with no refunds. It's presented by the Victoria International Wine Festival with Travel Portland and Travel Oregon.

Is this dinner worth it for a date?

This one's a splurge, and it's made for a couple who love food more than they love a private corner table. If you're both social, the shared table is part of the fun; if it's a first date, it might be a lot. If it were us, we'd book the 8pm seating so there's nothing to rush off to afterwards, and we'd book soon, since the listing says seating is limited.
