Pioneer twin brothers planted this forest of giant sequoias in South Surrey a century ago and left a fairy-door kingdom behind.
Redwood Park exists because two pioneer twin brothers planted a forest of giant sequoias and exotic trees from around the world in South Surrey, and then apparently decided to build a treehouse in it. The treehouse is now a replica of the original, which was built over a century ago, and locals have since tucked a fairy-door kingdom into the bases of the trunks, which is either charming or completely unhinged depending on your tolerance for whimsy. The loops are short, flat and easy, the sequoias tower overhead in the way that makes conversations shift to the big topics, and it is free. Picnic shelters sit ready if you came prepared. It is prettiest when low afternoon sun filters through the big trees. Finish with coffee at Morgan Crossing and feel quietly pleased with the whole afternoon.
