More infoThe Moon opened October 23 at 59 Powell Street in Gastown, and it's two rooms under one roof. The Dining Room serves seasonal, borderless plates from Chef Felix, at tables or at a chef's counter facing the open kitchen, and the dishes are small by design so you can try several and reorder the one you both fought over. Moon Bar next door is a contemporary martini bar with snacks and desserts, open until 1am Thursday and Sunday and 2am Friday and Saturday. Both rooms pour the same list: martinis made to order, original and spirit free cocktails, and wines from small organic producers. We'd book dinner, then ask for a nightcap seat at the bar, which is exactly the two part evening this place was built for. Menu prices aren't published yet, so we'll add them once they are.
The Moon is open Thursday to Sunday from 5pm. Book on OpenTable, and both rooms keep seats for walk-ins. A table for two in the Dining Room is held for 1 hour 45 minutes and a Moon Bar seat for 1 hour 15 minutes, so arrive on time. The full menu is served only in the Dining Room; Moon Bar has snacks and desserts. Corkage is $50 a bottle if you bring wine. Waterfront Station is about a 10 minute walk.
