Science World After Dark Tackles Video Game History
Science World swaps its usual science lessons for joysticks on December 9, 2026, when its 19+ After Dark series takes on video game history from Pong to photorealistic blockbusters, running 6 to 10 p.m. with side quests, special guests and interactive challenges built into the evening.
Pong to photorealism, under one roof
The theme covers how innovation has reshaped the video game industry over the decades, with hands-on challenges and guest appearances built into the night rather than a straight lecture. It is the kind of premise that lets you relive the entire console wars without anyone having to actually own the console.
Food and drink are sold separately from admission: Triple O's is on hand for burgers and milkshakes, the Snack Lab covers popcorn and other snacks, and the bar pours wine, beer and alcohol-free options. Nobody is forcing you to eat a burger shaped like a pixel, but nobody is stopping you either.
The 19+ fine print
Science World is strict about the adults-only policy: government-issued ID is mandatory, and there is no entry without it, no exceptions for forgetting your wallet at the coat check of life. Expect security checks, including the possibility of a body search, on the way in. Tickets are sold through the official event page, and the fine print is blunt: all sales are final, with no resale, refunds or combining with other offers.
The event runs at Science World's usual home, 1455 Quebec Street in Vancouver.
