Prophecy to Launch Monthly Guest Bartender Takeovers
Downtown Vancouver cocktail bar Prophecy announced on October 9, 2026 that it plans to hand its bar and kitchen over to guest bartenders and chefs once a month, beginning with a takeover on Sunday, October 18.
Who's behind the bar first
The opening guest shift pairs bartender Edward Bell with chef Sean Suggett, who will serve drinks built around Beam Suntory spirits alongside mini submarine sandwiches, described as a preview of Submarine Dive Bar, an upcoming cocktail bar. It is a fairly efficient way to find out whether you like a chef's cooking before their own bar has a sign out front, assuming you can snag a seat at someone else's bar on a Sunday night.
A second date is already on the calendar: Sunday, November 15, when Jon Merrill and Dani Hackenberg bring what Prophecy describes as the spirit of Bar Bravo into the room. Nobody has said whether that means the drinks, the playlist or just the general vibe, and the bar hasn't clarified further.
The room itself
Prophecy operates inside the Rosewood Hotel at 801 West Georgia Street, open Sunday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. It is a cocktail bar in the traditional sense, meaning a quiet, dim, slightly serious room where the drinks arrive with more backstory than most first dates. A monthly rotating guest list gives regulars a reason to return without the menu going stale, and gives first-timers a built-in excuse to pick a night.
Prophecy's event calendar groups collaborations like this under its general 'Special Collaboration Events' listing, without further specifics. Anyone planning to attend should check Prophecy's own event page closer to the date for cover charges or reservation details.
