Haunted Village Returns to Burnaby Village Museum
Burnaby Village Museum's Haunted Village returns for five evenings this October, running October 23 to 25 and October 30 to 31, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night. The heritage site's 10-acre grounds get a seasonal makeover with a haunted graveyard, a spooky circus and bewitching stores under dramatic lighting, built for atmosphere rather than screams.
Ghosts Take Over the Heritage Village
The museum's full 10-acre streetscape transforms with dramatic lighting, a haunted graveyard and a spooky circus spread across the grounds. The City's event listing rules out strobe effects for light-sensitivity reasons, so the scares stay theatrical. The carousel sits this one out entirely, which at least spares it from becoming the world's most reluctant haunted ride.
DJ Drac and his dancers take over the dancefloor, and Halloween themed treats and warm beverages are available for purchase at Mai's Cafe. Trick-or-treating is offered on October 31 only.
Getting In and What It Costs
Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children 2 to 12, rising to $15 and $10 at the gate, with kids under 2 free. Gate tickets are limited nightly, and cash payers need exact change. Two entrances serve the site: the main gate off Canada Way and Sperling Avenue, and a second gate on Deer Lake Avenue. Paths are wheelchair and stroller accessible, and the event runs rain or shine.
Why This Works for a Date Night
The spooky displays here clearly have a serious lighting budget and zero interest in making anyone cry, which puts this firmly in enjoyable rather than endurance territory. For a couple who prefer atmosphere over adrenaline, a walk through a lit-up heritage village on a cool October evening is a genuinely easy yes. Book ahead if you want a Friday or Saturday night, given the limited gate supply.
