Buttercrumbs' Bentall Centre Cookie Bar Extends Its Stay
Buttercrumbs' Cookies & Tea Bar has passed its 90-day probation at Bentall Centre: the counter that was set to close after 90 days will stay in downtown Vancouver for the rest of 2026, Noms Magazine reported on October 15, 2026.
A 90-day counter gets the rest of the year
Buttercrumbs began as an online bakery and moved into Bentall Centre's lower concourse in July on terms any new hire downtown would recognise: 90 days to prove itself, with the end date already written down. In mid-October, per Noms, it announced on Instagram that it was staying for the rest of 2026, which in employment terms is a contract to year-end rather than a permanent position.
Finding it at 502-595 Burrard Street
Its posted schedule reads like a job description. The counter is at 502-595 Burrard Street, entered, per Buttercrumbs' directions, through the Burrard SkyTrain entrance, Bentall Centre door, and it works Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., takes statutory holidays off and lists no weekend hours: the record of a model employee who has never once answered a Saturday email.
For evenings and Saturdays, when the downtown counter is off the clock, Buttercrumbs' where-to-find-us page lists a stockist: Butter & Joy at 4000 Number 3 Rd #2315 in Richmond, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The page does not say which products Butter & Joy carries, so call before you go, or the trip to Richmond may be a long way to travel for a maybe.
The 36-piece box comes with rules
The 36-piece box runs its own hiring round. The product page lists nine flavours, including Original, Hojicha, Earl Grey and Strawberries & Cream, and lets you pick up to three, a shortlist strict enough that two-thirds of the candidates go home. Pick none and the bakery curates a surprise mix, which amounts to letting the panel decide. Specific quantities are not guaranteed, though the bakery says it will do its best, and there are no split box options, which rules out the job share. Separately, the homepage lists Melt In Your Mouth Butter Cookies - Regular (36 pcs) at $36.95 CAD, or a dollar per cookie and 95 cents in unexplained admin.
A weekday break for two
Probation passed and contract extended to the end of 2026: Buttercrumbs now has the job security of a seasonal hire and the hours most office workers would ask for. For two people working downtown, it makes a mid-afternoon break that ends at 4 p.m. sharp, on the counter's schedule rather than your manager's.
