The date

The Galloping Goose was a railway before it became Victoria's most sociable bike path. Built on an old rail line, it runs flat, paved and car-free for 55 kilometres toward Sooke, gentle enough to feel athletic without trying. You don't do the whole thing: ride the pretty stretch from Switch Bridge out over the Selkirk Trestle, pack a picnic, and ignore your agreed turnaround the second the view gets good.
