Fire Dragon Festival Returns Without Its Parade
The Fire Dragon Festival returns to Vancouver's Chinatown September 18-19 with lantern-making, a Hakka Qilin dance and lion dance performances at Chinatown Memorial Square. What the organizers have planned
The Tsung Tsin Hakka Association will present a traditional Hakka Qilin dance, while the Chau Luen Athletics team brings a lion dance bench routine. Hands-on lantern-making is also on the programme. The organizers hope to bring the parade and its traditions back in 2027. For September 18-19, plan around the activities in the square rather than a procession through the streets.
