The 4.4 km Deer Lake loop wraps in under an hour and deposits you beside a rowboat rental and Burnaby's heritage district.
Deer Lake Park, beach and boathouse area off Sperling Avenue
More infoDeer Lake is the easy yes when you want somewhere genuinely pretty without the performance. The 4.4 km trail hugs the shoreline on gravel and floating boardwalk, past reedy inlets and mirror-still water that drops the North Shore mountains at your feet, and you'll finish in under an hour. Burnaby's heritage district wraps the park, so tack on a rowboat rental or a gallery without moving the car.
The east end swings and sandy patch are the real draw here, with enough gravel, roots and boardwalk variety to make strollers earn their keep. It's not a smooth-path promise, so wear shoes you don't mind getting dusty. Dawn to dusk only, which somehow always arrives faster than planned.
Swings and sandy play area at east end. Mixed gravel/dirt/boardwalk surfaces and roots; not a promise of stroller accessibility. Park dawn to dusk.
