Family owned since 1972, Sea Breeze is sixteen cottages scattered across twelve waterfront acres on Hornby's quiet northeast corner. Some cabins have fireplaces, some have ocean views, and the lawn has a grass tennis court, an amenity so cheerfully old-fashioned you half expect to be handed a cucumber sandwich at the baseline.

In July and August the lodge goes all-inclusive, meaning three home cooked meals a day arrive whether you have earned them or not. The rest of the year the cabins rent by the night from around $200, and the cliffside hot tub keeps steaming above the surf regardless of season. It is a small tub with an enormous view, which is the correct ratio.

Book with the seriousness of a person applying to university. Summer 2026 sold out entirely, and the waitlist involves emailing your dates and hoping somebody else's plans collapse. Off-season is the sleeper move anyway: fireplaces, storms, lower rates, and pets allowed September through June. The sea breeze, helpfully, is included year-round.

The setting

A waterfront bluff on Fowler Road at Hornby Island's northeast corner, close to Whaling Station Bay, with Tribune Bay's white sand and the island's village hub a short drive across the island.

Getting there

Reserve the Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay ferry, drive about 75 minutes north on Highway 19 to Buckley Bay, take the non-reservable cable ferry to Denman (pay once there for both islands), drive 10 minutes across, then a second short ferry to Hornby. Budget five to six hours; bring the car.
