The East Van Opry takes over the Rio Theatre on Saturday, November 21, at 8pm, a country-and-roots variety show in one of the city's best-loved independent venues. Tickets are $37 to $40 plus a service charge on the Rio's own ticket site. The Rio has a bar, so check the age rules on your ticket if anyone in your group is under 19. Commercial Drive makes the night. Eat first at Riddim & Spice (the Jamaican oxtail is worth the trip) or Harambe for injera, both a short walk from the Rio. If the show leaves you in a boots-on mood, Bar Corso, further up the Drive, does a proper aperitivo.
Buy tickets on the Rio's site ($37 to $40 plus fees). Eat on Commercial Drive at Riddim & Spice or Harambe, a few minutes' walk away, and arrive by 7:45pm for the 8pm show. Bar Corso, up the Drive, is the stop afterwards.
