Sep 18-19A free guided walking tour of five site-specific dance performances up through the Central Library, ending on the rooftop garden, one weekend in September.
New Works turns the Vancouver Public Library's Central branch into a vertical stage for one September weekend: five short, site-specific dance pieces are set at different landings as a guide leads small groups up through the building, from the North Plaza at street level to the rooftop garden at the top. Each stop is only a few minutes long and features a different choreographer and pair of dancers, so the whole tour reads more like a scavenger hunt through architecture than a sit-down show. It is completely free, runs rain or shine since most of the route is indoors, and finishes with a view over downtown from the rooftop.
