Scenic & Romantic
A wobbly candy-coloured village of floating homes, harbour seals, and fish and chips on the dock.
Fisherman's Wharf, James Bay
More infoFisherman's Wharf, on the quieter south side of the harbour, is a postcard you can actually walk through. Candy-coloured floating homes bob beside seafood shacks and a resident population of harbour seals who treat begging for scraps as a full-time career they're very good at. Share fish and chips on the dock, peek politely at the houseboats, then stroll the water back toward downtown. The early-evening version, after the lunch crowd clears, earns the word romantic.
Floating homes make for an oddly charming wander, though they're private residences, not exhibits, so supervise little ones closely along the docks. Food stalls nearby will tempt everyone and cost extra. There's no guaranteed seal sighting, however confidently your child announces there will be one.
