Once a year, Burnaby Heights closes Hastings Street to traffic and invites 60,000 people to enjoy the results. There's a morning parade, a vintage car show, multiple live-music and entertainment stages, and a long strip of food that makes walking in a straight line medically challenging. It costs nothing to attend, because the merchants and sponsors handle that part, so the only financial hazard is the thing you cannot walk past without buying. The 2026 edition runs June 6 from 9:30am to 4pm under an 'Under the Big Top' circus theme, which means extra silliness is officially baked into the day. Go for the parade, stay for the buskers, and use the whole thing as an excuse to discover a Burnaby neighbourhood most Vancouverites have simply never visited.
