Scenic & Romantic
Final day · on now until 6pmNearly a hundred wooden schooners, tugs and sailboats raft up along the Inner Harbour docks for Labour Day weekend, free to wander by donation.
For the Labour Day long weekend the Maritime Museum of BC turns the public docks along Wharf and Government Streets into a floating museum: close to a hundred classic wooden boats, from tiny varnished dinghies to full schooners, tied up gunwale to gunwale for anyone to walk past and admire. Owners are usually on deck happy to talk about the restoration, there is a sail race out on the harbour to cheer for, and the whole thing costs nothing beyond a suggested five dollar donation at the gate. It is an easy, unhurried stroll with the Parliament Buildings and the Empress across the water as a backdrop, best done slowly with a coffee in hand.
