VAG Hosts Free First Friday Night on November 6

By Date Spark · Published

The Vancouver Art Gallery is waiving admission for Free First Friday Nights, presented by BMO, on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 4 to 8 PM at 750 Hornby Street.

What is actually on the walls

Five exhibitions will be running that evening, according to the gallery's own exhibitions page. Vancouver Now! Emily Hermant continues through November 22. Future Geographies: Art in the Century of Climate Change and SANCTUARY: The Ancient Forest Experience both run until January 10, 2027. That Green Ideal: Emily Carr and the Idea of Nature is on until November 8, so this free night is essentially your last unpaid shot at it. Highlights from the Collection rounds things out, open until January 2030, which is either reassuring or a sign the gallery has given up predicting the future.

Four shows under one roof for the price of nothing is not a bad return on a Friday evening, especially if your usual approach to a gallery date is reading the wall text faster than you read the room.

Logistics worth knowing

The gallery's standard hours put it open 10 AM to 5 PM most days and until 8 PM on Fridays anyway, so this free event simply drops the entry fee during that extended Friday window. The gallery is closed Tuesdays, a fact worth filing away before you plan a spontaneous Tuesday detour and arrive at a locked door.
