Jim Lambie's Zobop Closes at VAG October 12

By Date Spark · Published

Jim Lambie's floor installation Zobop (Colour-Chrome) closes at the Vancouver Art Gallery on October 12, 2026, ending a run that opened October 22, 2025. If you have been meaning to see it for the better part of a year, this is the week that finally runs out.

Stripes across the gallery floor

The installation spreads colourful striped bands across the gallery floor and up the lower walls of a bright white room, wrapping around a central staircase. The floor is the artwork here, so walking through the gallery means walking across it, stripes and all, whether you meant to join the composition or not. It turns a simple walk through the room into a small decision: step on the colour, or hug the edges and pretend you're above it.

Last chance: through October 12

The exhibition runs through Monday, October 12, 2026, at the Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street. Regular hours apply that day: galleries are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Sunday, with Fridays until 8 p.m.; the gallery is closed only on Tuesdays. Check the gallery's site for current admission. It's a quick stop for a couple with an hour to spare before the room changes.
