DL Chicken's Halloween Combo With Trevor Henderson

By Date Spark · Published

On October 7, 2026, DownLow Chicken Shack, known to regulars as DL Chicken, launched a Halloween collaboration with Toronto horror illustrator Trevor Henderson, running at its Vancouver and Toronto locations through November 1.

A chicken sandwich with a horror-illustration backstory

The limited-edition Halloween Sando Combo takes DL's usual hot chicken and pushes it further into the dark arts: black garlic, roasted red pepper and a black cabbage and fennel slaw sit inside the bun, with fried Brussels sprouts tossed in balsamic glaze and crispy wild rice served on the side.

It is the one time all year a fried chicken sandwich is deliberately styled to look like it crawled out of someone's nightmare, which, given Henderson's reputation for eerie, unplaceable dread in his drawings, feels less like a gimmick and more like truth in advertising.

Both shops get the Henderson treatment

DL Chicken isn't only dressing up the food. Both the original Vancouver shop, open since 2018, and its newer Toronto outpost are getting full Halloween makeovers built around Henderson's illustrations, turning a fried chicken counter into a short-term gallery for creatures that mostly look like they've been smudged out of focus on purpose.

For a Halloween-adjacent date that doesn't require a costume or a haunted house queue, split the combo and argue over who has to try the wild rice first. The whole run ends November 1, so this is a short window, not a standing order.
