Date Spark community rules

Strong opinions are welcome. You can disagree with us, dislike a venue, prefer a cheap outing or think an elaborate first date sounds exhausting. Give people something useful to respond to.

Keep the argument about the idea

No harassment, discrimination, slurs, threats, doxxing, impersonation or sexual targeting. Do not identify private individuals, share contact details or post information about children. Criticism of an experience is welcome; abuse of staff or other readers is not. Casual language is not automatically abusive. Leave promotional links and spam out.

Be clear about what you know

Write your own opinion. If you visited, explain when and what happened without exposing anyone else. Reader experiences are self-reported, not verified reviews. Do not invent visits, accusations or quotations. Businesses and anyone with a relevant connection should disclose that connection. Voting or making a plan does not prove a visit.

Review comes before publication

Every comment and edit enters a private queue. Automated checks flag possible spam, personal information and harmful language; a moderator makes the publication decision. Flags are not automatic judgments. We review criticism fairly and may ask for clarification. No system catches every problem, so use Report when something needs checking. Contributions may be held, declined or removed; serious or repeated breaches can pause community access.

Your account and your contribution

Voting and posting require a verified account. Your email and account name are not shown in discussions. Choose a public display name and explicitly agree to publication. You can edit or delete your own contribution. An edit removes the old text from public view until reviewed. Deleted text is removed from the discussion; moderation action records may remain for accountability. Your existing private date feedback is never turned into a public comment.

Reports and appeals

Reports are private to moderators. Several independent reports can temporarily hold a comment for review. A moderator checks the context before deciding; popularity does not settle the argument. If your contribution is held or declined, use Ask for another review beside it and explain why. If you cannot access that control, contact hello@datespark.ca.

Polls and updates

Polls show the opinions of participating readers, with one current vote per verified account. You can change your vote. Results are not representative surveys of Vancouver and do not automatically change venue rankings. Follow a thread to see new replies in My discussions. Following does not subscribe you to marketing email.
