Break a Sweat
Belaying your date through 100-plus routes since the '90s: romantic, also excellent leverage for future disagreements.
Belaying someone is a form of trust that comes with genuine stakes. You hold the rope. They climb. If they fall, that's on you, which is either deeply romantic or useful leverage for the next disagreement, and time will tell which. Coastal Climbing in Newton has been facilitating this dynamic since the early nineties, packing over 100 full-length routes and nearly 100 boulder problems into 7,500 square feet, with caves, crash mats, and a welcoming vibe that beginners consistently describe as instantly disarming. Book an intro lesson if neither of you has belayed before. Then take turns holding the rope while the other one climbs. Somewhere between the third route and the first fall, the first-date nerves disappear completely. The climbing doesn't even have to be good for the date to be great.
